Setting the Standard in Rehabilitative Care
Since opening its state-of-the-art building in 2019, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley has continued to expand to meet the growing rehabilitation needs of the Pittsburgh area and surrounding communities.
Originally opening with 44 patient rooms, the rehabilitation hospital now has 65 rooms and specializes in serving patients recovering from stroke and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
“It’s our privilege to serve this community,” said Lisa Hopkins, business development director at Encompass Health Sewickley. “Our goal is always to help our patients regain their highest level of independence and get them back to their communities and back to those activities they loved before their illness or injury.”
Encompass Health Sewickley combines intensive therapy with 24-hour nursing care and frequent physician visits to help patients get back to what matters most to them.
State-of-the-art technology meets compassionate care
Located at 351 Camp Meeting Road, Encompass Health Sewickley combines compassionate care with the latest technology and innovations in rehabilitation.
The hospital has a spacious therapy gym with advanced rehabilitation technologies that can address anything from walking and balance to rebuilding strength, endurance and hand-eye coordination.
Patients at Encompass Health Sewickley receive a minimum of three hours of therapy a day, five days a week from at least two of the following therapy disciplines: physical, occupational and speech.
The hospital also has six dialysis suites, so patients can receive this life-saving treatment without having to leave the rehabilitation hospital.
Care that’s unique to the individual
At Encompass Health Sewickley, therapy is tailored to the individual and their unique needs and lifestyle.
After a stroke or other life-changing illness or injury, tasks that were once simple can become challenging. That’s why much of the therapy patients receive at Encompass Health Sewickley is designed to help them get back to everyday activities and live their most independent lives.
The Activities of Daily Living suite simulates a real-home environment, so patients can practice everyday tasks and chores in a safe environment.
In addition to helping them get back to everyday tasks, the care team also focuses on activities specific to the patient’s goals—both big and small. Whether it’s getting back to playing golf and traveling or feeding a beloved pet, each care plan is designed to meet patients where they are and where they want and need to be when they leave the hospital.
The trusted choice in rehabilitation
Encompass Health Sewickley has a trusted history of care in the Pittsburgh area. Opening its doors in 1999, it was originally located in the historic DT Watson Home for Children, where some of the first polio vaccines were administered.
It opened in its new location in 2019 and has since added 10 new rooms to meet the growing need in the area
The hospital specializes in rehabilitative care and holds The Joint Commission Disease-Specific Care Certifications in stroke, hip fracture, brain injury, amputation and Parkinson’s. Recognition from The Joint Commission, the nation’s largest healthcare accreditor, shows the hospital’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care.
If you or a loved one need rehabilitation after a life changing illness or injury, Encompass Health Sewickley is here to help you reach your recovery goals.
