'Dream Come True' for Dr. Cullen to Practice at Good Orthodontics

By Lois Thomson

Dr. Cullen Doyle knew at a young age that he wanted to be an orthodontist. He had made a number of trips to the orthodontist while growing up, and he recalled, "I was 6 when I first came in to meet Dr. Bob and Dr. Ron (Good – of Good Orthodontics). I remember coming to this office and leaving with a positive experience, especially on that first day, and I turned to my mom and said something like, that's what I want to be. I think my mom thought 'OK, this is a 6-year-old talking.'"

But that 6-year-old knew his mind, and Dr. Cullen has been a member of the Good Orthodontics practice for over three years. As he says, "To be able to come full circle is really a dream come true."

Even as he was traveling to this point, Drs. Bob and Ron had a hand in the journey. Dr. Cullen said, "I spent summers in college helping in the office, whether it was sterilizing instruments, doing procedures, whatever I could do. Even when I went on to do my residency, Dr. Bob and Dr. Ron were two of my instructors, so I felt through every phase of my life Good Orthodontics has been there in one way or another."

In addition, Dr. Cullen said he is not the only member of his family who has had his orthodontic treatment at Good Orthodontics. "My brothers, my mom, my aunt, my cousins, even my wife was a patient, although that's not how we met," he added with a chuckle. "In growing up, our families were kind of intertwined with school and things like that, so it always felt like home to me in that sense."

Gina Good Romano, business administrator, talked about the relationship the practice had with Dr. Cullen before he joined: "Dr. Bob and Dr. Ron had mentored and coached Dr. Cullen, and when they were thinking about a transition, they weren't going to transition to an outsider or someone they didn't know would have same values to treat the patients and the team. We love Dr. Cullen and we feel very blessed that we are a team with him."

The patients of Good Orthodontics are treated by Dr. Cullen, Dr. Bob, and Dr. Ron. All 3 doctors are Board Certified Specialists in Orthodontics and Facial Orthopedics and together they strive to give each and every patient their desired outcome along with a beautiful face and smile. Recognizing that healthy smiles last a lifetime, they practice what they preach. When in their care, you realize that an accurate diagnosis is critical to a positive outcome. Proper bite, jaw position, and periodontal health are all major factors to consider in order to achieve a GOOD smile! Their goal with every patient is to help them to accomplish a great smile, as well as looking for great function and aesthetics.

The doctors incorporate 3D (CBCT) cone beam imaging to evaluate airways, temporomandibular joints, skeletal relationships, and supporting bone structure around each tooth. They utilize scanners and 3D

printed models articulated on jaw motion simulators to accurately diagnose and formulate a virtual individualized treatment plan for each patient. The Good Orthodontics family of patients includes children, adults, and TMJ patients who are offered both traditional braces and clear aligners as treatment options.

While acknowledging people's excitement when braces come off or aligners are finished, Dr. Cullen said one of the most rewarding things about his practice is "getting to know people along the way. We're seeing people every month or two, and you tend to know what's going on in the sports season, or how the musical practice is going, what they are doing for summer. You get to know them intimately, not just on a surface level."

He concluded, "We want to treat people as if they are family, because you never know what little 6-year-old will want to turn around and become part of that family some day." In addition to offering three locations to serve you, Good Orthodontics has made a commitment to continuing education and a belief that there is no substitute for being loving and kind. All three doctors and their exceptional team strive to bring a joyful atmosphere to every patient and offer a standard of care that is unparalleled.
