Ohio Valley Hospital recognized as a Top Performing Hospital by Medicare

Medicare recently released its 2016 “Hospital Acquired Condition” scores for hospitals throughout the United States. Ohio Valley Hospital is one of its Top Performing hospitals; ranked number 5 in Western PA for quality safety measures and low infection rates.

These values are based on a composite of the following data elements; representing some of the most critical events affecting patient mortality and morbidity:

  1. Patient Safety Indicators, determined by the Agency for Healthcare Research
  2. Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infection measures, Catheter- Associated Urinary Tract Infections measures, and Surgical Site Infection measures; all determined by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Healthcare Safety Network

Ohio Valley Hospital is honored to be recognized for their ongoing commitment to healthcare quality and safety measures.

“We have worked very hard over the last few years to make Ohio Valley Hospital a safe and healthy environment for our patients and their families. Our Infection Control department supports our nursing and medical staff and works tirelessly to ensure that the proper safety measures are put in place and followed. We truly appreciate the recognition from Medicare,” President and CEO, David W. Scott, FACHE, remarked.
