Pediatrician to Receives Breastfeeding Advocacy Award

Dr. Chaves-Gnecco

The Allegheny County Health Department is recognizing Dr. Diego Chaves-Gnecco of the North Hills, a pediatrician with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, for his work to promote breastfeeding and support of breastfeeding moms and their babies.
 
Dr. Chaves-Gnecco, a developmental-behavioral pediatrician, is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the Founder and Director of Salud Para Niños (Health for the Children), the region’s first bilingual-bicultural pediatric primary care program. Under his leadership, Salud Para Niños complements primary care with other activities geared to promoting prevention, encouraging literacy and empowering the Hispanic/Latino community to take charge of its own health.
